The Best Bike Maintenance Schemes For Looking After Your Bike

When it comes to taking care of your ride, you want to be sure that it is in perfect working order every time you set out. Occasionally things can go wrong – brake pads can wear and gears can slip, presenting safety risks if you often ride in poor conditions. But luckily, help is at hand. Specialised maintenance schemes can provide bike servicing for when issues arise, and some stores offer help with building as well as maintenance.

It is recommended to have your bike serviced at least twice a year, depending on usage. If you use your bike to commute daily, it may be beneficial to have your bike serviced more often to maintain it so that things are less likely to go wrong. This way, you can ensure that every time you ride your bicycle, it is reliable and you are safe.


Decathlon Sports Shop offer both parts and comprehensive servicing and maintenance of bicycles. Decathlon stores can be found throughout the UK also, and whilst they do not offer a yearly package, the costs for either part replacement or adjustment and full servicing are extremely good. We feel that for most people the Safety Maintenance Service will be more than sufficient.

 Cycles UK

Cycles UK offer three differencycles-UKt tiers of cover for servicing and maintenance, ranging from a basic Bronze package to Gold, which is a comprehensive repair and maintenance service if you are a London resident. Each package is for one year.

Bronze: £20.00
Silver: £30.00
Gold: £60.00



CycleSurgery operate cyclesurgeryfrom 14 national stores and 18 London Stores, all of which have fully functioning workshops with Cytec qualified mechanics for all your maintenance needs. Whether you require general maintenance, replacement of parts or wheel building, this can all be done at any of the CycleSurgery stores.

CycleSurgery offer a range of service plans to make it easier and more cost-effective to maintain your cycle. The three service plan options on offer are:

Plan One – One general service (RRP £60) within the first year of ownership * – £40
Plan Two – Two general services (RRP £120) within 18 months of ownership * – £70
Plan Three – Three general services (RRP £180) within two years of ownership * – £100

Furthermore, CycleSurgery offer the following workshop services:

Back on the road service – £25
General service (including degrease) – £45
Full service – £90
Suspension servicing

With fully operational workshops they can cater to all your needs, whether it be bike repairs, bike building or wheel building. Mechanics are Cytech qualified and carry out all work in the Belfast or Ballyclare stores.

Available service options include:

Standard service – Adjust gears and brakes and safety check – £40
Full service – New cable fitting, brake pads, chain, gear and brake adjustment, head set servicing and B/B  (parts not included) – £80

As well as this, there are a range of services that can be carried out on any of the following parts:

tredzTredz offer servicing with Cytech qualified mechanics working from their state-of-the-art workshops.

For every bike sold in store, Tredz offer a free first service during the bedding-in period of the bike from 3-6 weeks after its purchase.

Although there is not the offer of a service plan, Tredz can offer a full range of maintenance services for any particular issue arising. For example, a bike, brakes or hub service can be carried out at £15 per item.



planetxEvery bike PlanetX sell comes with a free six week-check up and both the Sheffield and Barnsley stores have fully equipped workshop and bike servicing facilities. Work is carried out by Cytech qualified mechanics who offer a comprehensive range of servicing and upgrade options. At PlanetX, booking in your bike for a service is easy and a specific time slot can also be selected by the customer.

PlanetX offer three service packages that cover a range of parts. These are priced as follows:

Bronze – £20
Silver – £40
Gold – £60.
