Avoid the Tube Strikes – Pledge to Cycle to Work Instead
It’s nearly time for Cycle to Work Day! The third one of 2015, Cycle to Work Day is a time when both experienced and beginner cyclists alike take the pledge to cycle to work in a bid to save money, do something for the environment or just to get a sense of what cycling is like. If you’ve never cycled before, it’s a great chance to try it out, and you’ll be in good company with the 20,000 commuters who have already signed up.
However, this month’s Cycle to Work Day is shaping up to be popular for another reason – it’s an ideal way to get around those dreaded London tube strikes. Anybody who’s been commuting within the big City will no doubt be all too familiar with the chaos and inconvenience these strikes bring. Luckily, not only does cycling get you out of the crowded bus queues and straight onto your route, it also saves on money, relieves stress and gets you fitter too. Major win all round!
Although the latest strikes planned for August 25 and 27 may have been called off, two new dates have already been announced – Sep 8 and 10. It’s good sense, therefore, to arrange a backup plan now – starting with making your pledge to ride to work on Thursday Sep 3!
